On a bright and early morning on March 11th, 2024, I went on a group field trip that promised a deep dive into modernization and industrial development, with a special focus on Subaru’s contributions. Our journey began at Tokyo, where we embarked on a bus headed towards Gunma Prefecture, a region synonymous with industrial innovation and the heart of Subaru’s manufacturing prowess.
The day’s agenda was packed with educational and insightful activities, starting with a lecture on the “Modernization & Industrial Development of Gunma Prefecture” by Mr. Hitoshi Teshima from the Gunma Regional Studies Research Institute. Held in a public conference room in Ota city, the lecture set the stage for understanding the historical context and the significant strides made by industries in the region.
Post-lecture, we ventured to the Subaru Factory Visitor Center, a highlight of the trip for many, the firsthand experiencing was unparalleled. The observation tour of the car producing factory offered us a rare glimpse into the intricate processes involved in vehicle manufacturing. Witnessing the melding of cutting-edge technology with meticulous craftsmanship underscored Subaru’s commitment to quality and innovation.
Our journey did not end at the factory. We continued to Oizumi Town for an observation of its international community, illustrating how industries like Subaru foster cultural diversity and economic growth in their locales.
Returning to Tokyo in the evening, the trip was not just an educational experience but also an inspiring one, highlighting the synergy between industrial development and regional growth. The field trip to Subaru was a testament to the spirit of innovation that drives Japan’s industrial sectors and a reminder of the importance of hands-on learning experiences.
